Al Riveron steps down as Atlantic Coast Conference Supervisor of Officials
The former NFL official and NFL officiating boss, leaves the ACC after four years.

Al Riveron has stepped down as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Supervisor of Football Officials after four years at the post.
The ACC announced the news today. The conference will begin a search for Riveron’s successor immediately.
In the news release, Riveron commented, “It has been an honor to serve as the ACC’s Supervisor of Football Officials, and I am appreciative of the support from Commissioner Phillips and the entire league. Officiating is built on integrity, preparation and teamwork, and I have been fortunate to work alongside some of the most dedicated professionals in the game.”
Riveron was a Conference USA, and Big East referee, beginning in 1990. He joined the NFL as a side judge in 2004 and became an NFL referee in 2008. He joined Dean Blandino in the NFL front office in 2013 as senior director of officiating. He was senior vice president of officiating for the NFL from 2017 – 2020. He then became the ACC officiating boss in 2022.
A resident of Miami, Riveron moved to the United States from Cuba when he was five years old.
