Line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended two games, and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended one game for their actions during Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season.

An NFL spokesman issued a statement to Football Zebras and other news outlets Monday afternoon.

The NFL confirmed today that line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game, each for an instance of unprofessional conduct toward a player in Sunday’s Arizona-New York Giants (Seeman) and Miami-Minnesota games (Hill). The suspensions were issued by NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George.

We noted both incidents in our Week 4 Liveblog.

Adrian Hill

In the Vikings – Dolphins game, the Vikings Eric Wilson and an opponent were tied up in an enthusiastic post-whistle blocking action. Hill tried to move in and shut it down. Hill went down hard. It hurt. He was trying to prevent something big from happening and was knocked down for it. When an official gets knocked down, especially on a play like the one below, it is frustrating. They are trying to do their job and get knocked down hard instead.

For his reaction, Hill will sit for one game.

Jeff Seeman

Jeff Seeman will sit for two games, due him dropping a “f-bomb” to the Cardinals Trey McBride, after McBride was outside the team box, arguing a pass interference no-call. A broadcast sideline reporter said that McBride told Seeman he was “ruining the game.”

The officials ruled the play in question incidental contact, drawing the McBride protest. After a delay of game on the 4th down, McBride was outside of the bench area complaining to the veteran Seeman about the non-call. Social media has zoomed in on the video, showing Seeman retorting with a “fuck you” as McBride is escorted back to the bench by a coach.

For that action, Seeman will sit for two games.

This is the most serious in-season, non-termination discipline ever

In the past, incidents like this have drawn a league reprimand or a significant fine (usually a game check).

This is the first game suspension since 2018, and the first multigame suspension that will be served since 1977. We will report any response from the officials’ union, the NFL Referees Association. This discipline will carry long-term impacts.

Do we know if that is with or without pay? Also, do the officials have any recourse under their CBA?
