I doubt that Belichick was as upset about the clock shenanigans as he appeared to be. Had the Patriots taken the lead one the next drive (they had plenty of time) the Titans sure would have liked to have that 1:46 back.
That said, the rule needs to be fixed. Easiest fix is for the offended team to have the option to have the clock run or not run after an accepted foul. Also, the clock should NEVER run after a delay of game. Ever.
