Gene Steratore is confirmed for this game, after missing the entire preseason due to surgery on his Achilles tendon. Steratore’s last game was Dec. 22.

I realize that this comment may be in the wrong spot; however I DO have a question. The Big 12 Conference in college football is experimenting with 8 on field officials, with the umpire in the traditional position, and another official in the offensive backfield with the referee. Any chance of the NFL adopting this? (The second official in the offensive backfield is assigned the letter “A” which, as a guess, would mean Assistant Referee.)
The NFL did try 8 guys a few times last year in PreSeason. The eight official was deep, hasnt been mentioned again.
Not last year, that was the replacements. And not this year, either, from what I’ve been told
you are right it was not last year or this year. Guess its been 2 years. We had 8 for one of our preseason games
