[Editor’s note: The following letter was one of a series that every Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinee writes to the citizens of Canton, Ohio, as an introduction.]

Dear Canton,

My name is Art McNally and it is with great honor, and a bit of disbelief, that I introduce myself to you as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022.

It is difficult to find the words to describe how proud I am to be joining this prestigious group of individuals, especially as the first game official inductee. My career with the National Football League spanned from 1959 to 2015 where I served in positions both on and off of the field. I did my best to always be honest and give every opportunity my best shot. There were many advances in the game and technology over the years; my crew and I did our best to make sure officiating continued to develop and adapt with the advancing caliber and speed of the game.

Thank you to everyone I’ve had the honor of working beside, my family, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the City of Canton for being a part of this unbelievable honor. I look forward to thanking you all in person this August. See you at Enshrinement!
