Despite other baggage that Farina brings, this call is not one of them. The NCAA made it a point of emphasis prior to the season about pre-score celebrations. There was no nuance in there about how you presented yourself, just that the penalty would be a live-ball spot foul, and negate any score on the play.
He made the difficult, painful, and correct call in that situation.
Now as to his sudden availability for the NFL this year, that is another story.
