Football Zebras has obtained the officiating crew rosters for the 2025 NFL season. This season, there are 6 new officials to replace the 6 that retired or were otherwise not retained at the end of last season. Additionally, there is an umpire and a back judge designated as swing officials who will move between crews through the season.
There is also a new referee this season, Alex Moore, who becomes the 10th new referee in the past 8 seasons. He is replacing Tra Blake, who was re-assigned to the umpire position, serving on the crew of Shawn Smith.
Two deep wing officials will be joining an exclusive club this season: field judge Rick Patterson and side judge Boris Cheek will each be officiating their 30th NFL seasons in 2025. They become only the 8th and 9th officials to officiate 30 or more NFL seasons. Cheek made history last season by setting the record for most NFL games officiated, with 465 combined regular season and postseason games.
