I have a question about DeVonta Smith’s 19-yard catch to the Titans’ 3-yard line near the end of Sunday’s Eagles–Titans game. The clock stopped with 14 seconds remaining, and Philadelphia had no timeouts.
The reception itself looked good, but on replay it appeared that Smith’s knee touched inbounds after contact from a defender, before his arm touched out of bounds. The play was not reviewed by replay but if overturned to down in bounds would have had a significant impact on the game as there would have been a 10 second runoff and if Philadelphia decided to go for the end zone, there would have been a do-or-die type play.
I am a little confused why this wasn’t reviewed and why there has been no discussion of this in the aftermath. Let me know your thoughts and if I am missing something.
