USFL Week 3 officiating assignments

The USFL enters its third week with two crews working the four games. James Carter and crew will debut this weekend, and the other crew will be working their second weekend of the season. There is a substitution this weekend for the crew that is normally headed by referee Bryan Banks. Larry Smith (pictured above) will substitute this weekend for Banks, although there will be a second swap between Carter and Smith for the Sunday games. Banks is scheduled to work Week 4.

Game assignments

All games are played at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala., and times listed are Eastern.

Saturday, April 30

  • Tampa Bay Bandits vs. Houston Gamblers, 4 p.m. Fox — James Carter
  • Birmingham Stallions vs. New Orleans Breakers, 8 p.m. Fox — Larry Smith (Bryan Banks crew)

Sunday, May 1

  • Pittsburgh Maulers vs. Michigan Panthers, 2:30 p.m. USA — Larry Smith (Carter crew)
  • New Jersey Generals vs. Philadelphia Stars, 8 p.m. Peacock — James Carter (Banks crew)
