In the second week of the preseason, the officiating department has assigned officials in the Officiating Development Program (ODP) to work on NFL crews. Also, after a one-year hiatus, there will be more experimentation with an eighth official. Back judge Perry Paganelli will work as a second back judge, referred to as a middle judge, and referee Clete Blakeman will work as a second umpire, which was previously tried in NFL preseason games and is related to a center judge in college.
Officials in the development program are listed in italics and, for those who have been in the program before, their jersey number.
All times Eastern. Live games on NFL Network will be telecast on local stations only in both teams’ markets. Clete Blakeman’s crew is off this week, although Blakeman himself will be working as an eighth official on Brad Allen’s crew on Friday night.

Hey there Ben
Nickie D’Annunzio here with a question
In the last couple of weeks in the preseason have you seen any NFL Officiating Crews with long sleeved Officials Referee Uniforms On?
Cheffers calling penalties on on Kyler Murray for clapping (see, Rivers, Brees, Wilson, who all do the same) was asinine. Then again, this is the same clown who, despite clear evidence that the ball never touched the ground, had the nerve to tell anyone who saw the play to not believe their lying eyes… that the ball did hit the ground when Zach Miller caught a TD pass in the midst of snapping his leg. And what’s his record in Saints games again?…
