Clete Blakeman will lead his crew in Atlanta for Thursday night’s Saints-Falcons game. This is his second Thursday night game of the season. Ron Torbert and his crew are off this week.
Two assignments of note: Carl Cheffers is working his second game in Kansas City this season. Normally, working two home games of the same team in one regular season violates scheduling rules. This is especially puzzling also, since Cheffers was the referee of the Divisional Playoff last year which eliminated the Chiefs from the postseason. In addition, Pete Morelli is working in Miami on Monday night, where he was originally assigned for opening weekend, but subsequently removed when the game was postponed to Week 11 due to weather issues.
Update: Walt Anderson is now scheduled for DAL-NYG and Brad Allen has IND-BUF. Three weeks ago, there was a late schedule change for an unknown reason that split Allen’s and Gene Steratore’s crews, with half the crew staying on their originally scheduled game. Allen would have a Giants game twice in four weeks, so apparently another late scheduling change was made. Sorry for the confusion on that, and we are not sure why the league is calling a late audible on the assignments.

Wow Bill Vinovich got the Browns and Packers game. That is such a slap in the face he is a really good referee. That should be a Jeff Triplette game.
In the Bengals-Steelers game on Monday why were the Bengals forced to only accept 1 of the 2 penalties called on JuJu Schuster on the hit to Burfict (live ball) and the taunting (dead ball) and therefore make it 2nd and 16 for the Steelers instead of 2 separate penalties for 2nd and 31? In the playoff game 2 years ago the Bengals were charged 30 yards in penalties on a live ball foul by Burfict and dead ball foul by Jones. Seems incorrectly enforced to me.
The foul by Jones was long after the continuing action of the play. Therefore it is assessed between downs.
James Abare, the Packers-Browns game should be a Jerome Boger game.
The zebra ref Clete and many other refs are not controling the games!! In the Atlanta New Orleans game they left the helmet to helmet go with no flag against Atlanta and that great athlete now has a concusion, thecref are letting things go and even the grab of s helmet in which a player got poked in the eye, nothing there either!! Cant the NFL HAVE REPLAYS ON SOME OF THIS STUFF HEN IT COMES TO WIDE RECIEVERS CATCHING THE BALL AND THAT PURPOSFUL HIT IN THE RIBS WITH A HELMET IS SOOOOO VIOLENT AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED!!! WHEN PLAYERS GET CLOSE TO THE PLAYOFFS THEY GET VIOLENT AND ITS UNCALLED FOR,!!! THIS SHIT NEEDS TO STOP,!!! THE REFS ARENT DOING IT AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!! WE DONT WATCH THE GAME TO SEE PLAYERS GET PERMANENTLY AND THE REFS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR CALLING GAMES ONESIDED AND ENDANGERING THESE TALENTED MEN!!!!! NFL DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SHIT THAT GOES ON,!!!

The Quick Calls for Week 14 are missing. And there is a lot going on in the NFCS Battle.
It seems like the Falcons were on a manhunt, ramming their helmets into everything they find, ribs, backs, arm and other helmets.
Even worse that the refs had no control of the game violence and prefered to control the game score… this kind of matchup, in primetime! is why ppl stop watching the NFL… plz come up with solutions to this!
Oh good grief, have any of you – see Trishe and dr ownz – ever played a down of football in your lives? Are you serious with your commentary? Are you ready for flag football?
While I am ranting – get rid of these old cranky officials that can’t do the jobs … like Joe Larrew last night in the Saints Falcons game. Seriously? You call a penalty on the bench at a crucial time near the end of the game and negate any chance that New Orleans had to come back in the game? Are you serious? I have no idea how old Joe Larrew is, but the man looks like he can barely move with that hunchback, And, it’s not an age thing … plenty of the older guys recently – see Tony Veteri and Tom Stabile – have been fantastic through their last game … but others should retire.
Put Joe Larrew in the time to go category.
Clete and his crew really need to work on selling it better. The whole point of having a hidden agenda is to keep it hidden. What was the planned flag for if the Saints would’ve scored a touchdown there at the end? 5 un-timed downs after PI calls?
@Knowledegeisgood: You are correct, I am an Ice Hockey ref. An dI know the refs are basically following the rules, thus I criticize the rules, allowing a team to shot into ppl and celebrate after they injured another one? That is horrible, refs didn’t even talk to him in a way to try to calm this down….
Injuries are always horrible, but refs just not reacting to injuries I think is worse… (besides giving the time to clear them from the field)
i wonder who will ref pats steelers next week
