In the Vikings at Bears game, a kick off landed in the field of play and bounced untouched into the end zone. DJ #53 was the closest official and instead of blowing the play dead as a touchback, she watched the KR pick up the ball and run. She wound the clock and followed the KR up the field.

With the rule changes on touchbacks designed to reduce the number of injuries on kick off runbacks, is this considered a big miss that allowed a “dangerous” play to continue or just a simple reminder that gets mentioned in their team meetings this week?

The call was corrected after the play with R #122 announcing “after further discussion” which I thought you’ve mentioned is code for when the league steps in from New York.
